Lekythos by the Bowdoin Painter

Attic, circa 470 BC

Clay with details in added red. Red-figure lekythos. Apollon in chiton and himation in front of an altar, offering with a phiale, holding a lyre, behind him a deer. Two meander-patterns above and underneath the scene, palmettes and rays on the shoulder. Break at the handle mended, a crack on the rim.
