Alabastron

Eastern Mediterranean, 2nd century BC
Cobalt blue glass, opaque yellow and white glass for the thread.
H 12.5 cm

Alabastron in sand core technique with ovoid body and applied high foot, long cylindrical neck and flat rim. Corpus and neck decorated with opaque yellow and white spiral threads. The yellow thread also decorates the rim edge. The upper part of the corpus is combed and decorated with depressions. Recomposed from large fragments; minuscule part filled in.
