Byzantine - late Roman from North Africa, 4th – 6th century AD
Red clay.
L 13.5 cm
Oval lamp with large wick-hole and handle. The discus decorated with the bust of an emperor. On the rim concentric circles, floral and geometric motifs. Two vent holes to the right and left of the bust. Intact.
Provenance
German private collection H. W. (1931-2018), acquired prior to December 1991 on the German art market.
Accompanied by an IADAA Interpol search certificate.
