Oinochoe

Etruscan, 5th century BC

Bronze with incrusted patina and remains of textile. Jug with trefoil mouth, wide neck and elliptical-shaped body on foot. The handle with matching thumb-rest terminals depicting incrusted animal heads on the rim, and palmette where it joins the body. The oinochoe was wrapped in a cloth, the remains of which melted into the patina. Body intact, foot and handle reattached, patina cracks at the rim.
