Etruscan, 6th century BC

Bucchero pesante. Jug with bulbous corpus and trefoil mouth. Upper base of vertical handle with two disks and four circulating grooves at the neck. The shoulder area is decorated with a zig-zag pattern at the base of the neck. Below a lions on each side of the handle with open mouth and a raised front paw. Between them a grazing deer with powerful antlers. The fields separated by four vertical ribs tapering downwards. Recomposed from large fragments with small areas of modern infill.
