Skyphos
Gnathia, 3rd century BC
Black-glazed light brown clay, red slip, added white.
H 10.1 cm
Tall, almost entirely black-glazed skyphos with two horizontal handles on opposite sides and a base ring. The outer rim is decorated with an incised egg pattern with white filling and white dots in between. Above the egg-pattern one and below it two incised lines. On both sides three incised branches with white ivy leaves. In between small white blossoms on one side. Above the base a band with red slip. Unbroken, added white partly faded.
