Band cup

Black-glazed clay, added white and added red.

H 10.8 cm Ø 19.7 cm L 27.5 cm

Drinking cup, so-called kylix, with the name-giving clay-ground band on the outer wall. The cup is decorated on both sides with a band between the handles with a swan with spread wings flanked by men wrapped in long cloaks. Tendrils on each side of the handles. Recomposed on one side from three fragments, foot reattached.

Band cups are a form of Attic Little-master cups. The designs are usually on both sides.
