Violin idol
Eastern Mediterranean, Early Bronze age II, early 3rd millennium BC
Marble.
H 10.7 cm
Carved schematic figurine with oval corpus, neck and head. The body and the head are separated from the neck by a depression. In comparison to the mainly flat Anatolian violin idols, this piece is very vividly worked and more closely resembles the hybrid Cycladic idols.
